ROMANTIC & CONTEMPORARY COMPETITION

Location: LSU School of Music
Repertoire: Any piece written by a Romantic or Contemporary composer
Fee: ​$20 per student for BRMTA members ($40 to enter both categories)
$25 per student for non-members
Procedure: ​Online registration form is available via e-mail and HERE. The non-members use the same form, but submit $25 entry fee(s). Forms must be submitted via e-mail to chairman at kurara.guilbeau@gmail.com. No handwritten forms will be accepted. Registration fees (payable to BRMTA) must be mailed to chairman.
Students will be assigned to groups based on these levels. All other students in each group and parents will be in the room as each one plays. Students will receive comments and a rating. Judges may select up to 25% of the students within each group to receive the "Superior Trophy."

Results will be posted as each group finishes. Teachers may pick up their students' comment sheets, certificates, and awards at the end of the day, around 4pm. No winners recital.

No photocopies allowed.

Pieces must be a minimum of 16 measures.

Teachers entering 1-9 students are required to work half a day (8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm). Teachers entering 10 or more students are required to work full day. No exceptions will be made for teachers to come late or leave early.

If teachers is unable to work, she/he must provide a qualified substitute or pay $75 substitute fee. Teacher must notify chairman that she/he is unable to work no later than one week prior to competition, or her/his students will be disqualified.

​Registration fee must be received or postmarked by registration deadline. If registration fee is not received or postmarked by that date, entrants will be disqualified.

​Once the registration deadline is past, no changes may be made to entries.
Tournament offers students an opportunity to perform for a judge and receive comments. Required Federation or method book pieces may be used. Please remember the Tournament is BRMTA's major fundraiser and encourage all your students to enter.
